Way Too Early 2026 RB Rankings for PPR (Fantasy Football)

By The Flex Spot

These are my way too early 2026 RB rankings for PPR fantasy football with a dynasty lean. I will update this throughout the offseason as free agency, coaching changes, and the draft reshape backfield situations. Dynasty players should keep checking back as they evaluate trades and prepare for rookie drafts.

1) Christian McCaffrey

It is always a calculated risk to rank Christian McCaffrey as the No. 1 overall player in any fantasy draft. His injury history has derailed seasons in the past, including 2024 when he missed significant time. When McCaffrey is healthy, however, he is not just an RB1. He is a league-winner capable of carrying a fantasy roster.

2025 was one of those dominant seasons. McCaffrey played all 17 games and handled a massive workload, finishing with 311 rushing attempts for 1,202 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught 102 passes for 924 yards and 7 touchdowns. That production totaled 416.6 PPR fantasy points, making him the clear RB1 overall and one of the highest-scoring running backs in recent seasons.

This level of output is a continuation of what McCaffrey has shown throughout his career. Kyle Shanahan's offense consistently features him in the run game and as a receiver, giving him elite weekly volume. His involvement in the passing game gives him the highest floor and ceiling combination at the position in PPR formats.

At age 30 entering 2026, workload concerns are real given his career touch total. Even so, after a fully healthy and dominant 2025 season, McCaffrey remains the top option in PPR leagues. If he stays on the field, few players can match his upside.

2) Bijan Robinson

Bijan Robinson established himself as one of the league's elite running backs in 2025, finishing as the RB2 in PPR formats with 370.8 total points. He recorded 287 carries for 1,478 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, along with 79 receptions for 820 yards and 4 receiving scores.

After a slower start to the season, Robinson's role expanded significantly beginning in Week 6. From that point on, he averaged more than 23 touches per game and ranked near the top of the position in carries, targets, routes, snaps, and fantasy production. He posted multiple 30-point performances and showed his ability to dominate regardless of game script.

Atlanta's offense could continue to improve in 2026. While questions remain at quarterback and on the coaching staff, the surrounding talent with Drake London and Kyle Pitts should prevent defenses from focusing solely on the run. Robinson is clearly the focal point of the offense.

At 24 years old entering his fourth season, Robinson combines workload, efficiency, and receiving production. In PPR formats, he offers one of the safest floors at the position with the upside to challenge for the RB1 overall if the offense takes a step forward.

3) Jahmyr Gibbs

Jahmyr Gibbs followed up his rookie campaign with another strong season in 2025, finishing as the RB3 in PPR scoring with 366.9 total points. He carried the ball 243 times for 1,223 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, while adding 77 receptions for 616 yards and 5 receiving scores.

Gibbs consistently produced explosive plays and ranked among the top backs in efficiency metrics such as yards per carry and fantasy points per touch. His role in the passing game continued to grow, giving him reliable weekly production with spike-week upside.

David Montgomery's reduced workload in 2025 opened the door for Gibbs to operate as Detroit's clear lead back. That shift resulted in more snaps, more targets, and more high-value touches near the goal line.

Detroit's season did not meet expectations overall, but the offensive core remains intact. With Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and a strong offensive line, the Lions are positioned to rebound in 2026. Gibbs should remain a central piece of the offense.

At 24 years old, Gibbs is entering his prime. His dual-threat ability makes him one of the most dangerous PPR backs in the league, and he has realistic RB1 overall upside if Detroit returns to form.

4) Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor remained a high-end fantasy running back in 2025, finishing as the RB4 in PPR scoring with 362.3 total points. He logged 323 rushing attempts for 1,585 yards and a league-leading 18 rushing touchdowns, while adding 46 receptions for 378 yards and 2 scores.

Taylor delivered several massive performances, including a franchise-record outing with 286 scrimmage yards. He averaged over 21 fantasy points per game and posted multiple 30-point weeks, making him one of the most reliable players at the position.

The Colts are expected to maintain continuity entering 2026 with Shane Steichen remaining as head coach. The offense should continue to revolve around Taylor as the primary workhorse.

At age 27 entering 2026, Taylor remains in his prime. His rushing volume, touchdown equity, and steady receiving usage make him a strong RB1 option with the ability to deliver league-winning weeks.

5) De'Von Achane

Projecting De'Von Achane comes with some uncertainty due to Miami's coaching change following the 2025 season. Despite the instability, Achane remains one of the most explosive and valuable backs in PPR formats.

In 2025, Achane finished as the RB5 overall in PPR scoring with 322.8 points across 16 games. He rushed 238 times for 1,350 yards and 8 touchdowns, while adding 67 receptions for 488 yards and 4 receiving scores. His efficiency stood out, and his speed consistently turned routine touches into big plays.

Achane produced multiple strong performances throughout the season and showed that his fantasy value does not rely solely on perfect quarterback play. His involvement as a receiver gives him a high floor in PPR leagues.

At 24 years old entering 2026, Achane's skill set fits modern offenses well. If Miami's new staff continues to feature him in the passing game and creates space for his speed, he has the upside to remain among the elite backs.

6) James Cook

The top six running backs in these rankings mirror the top six finishers in 2025 PPR scoring. James Cook earned his place among that group with a breakout season in Buffalo.

Cook finished 2025 with 300 carries for 1,629 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 33 receptions for 291 yards and 2 scores, totaling 302.2 PPR points and finishing as the RB6 overall.

Buffalo's offense should continue to improve as additional receiving weapons are added around Josh Allen. That growth should create more scoring opportunities and cleaner rushing lanes for Cook.

At 28 years old entering 2026, Cook remains locked in as the lead back in a high-powered offense. He profiles as a high-end RB1 with strong weekly consistency and upside.

7) Josh Jacobs

Josh Jacobs delivered another productive season in 2025, showing no immediate signs of decline despite his workload and age. He finished with 234 carries for 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, along with 36 receptions for 282 yards and a receiving score.

Jacobs consistently found the end zone and maintained a solid fantasy floor, finishing with 237.1 PPR points. While his receiving role was not elite, it was enough to support RB1 or high-end RB2 value.

Green Bay's offense should continue to evolve as its young receivers gain experience. An improved passing attack would benefit Jacobs by reducing stacked boxes and creating more scoring chances.

Entering his age-28 season, Jacobs remains a reliable fantasy option with weekly touchdown upside.

8) TreVeyon Henderson

TreVeyon Henderson edges out Saquon Barkley at this spot based on upside and age. Henderson showed significant promise as a rookie in 2025 despite sharing touches in New England's backfield.

He finished his rookie season with 180 carries for 911 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns, along with 35 receptions for 221 yards and a receiving score. His explosiveness stood out, and he produced multiple long touchdowns throughout the year.

The Patriots increased Henderson's role as the season progressed, signaling growing trust from the coaching staff. Even if the backfield remains shared, Henderson's receiving ability gives him a strong PPR profile.

At 23 years old entering 2026, Henderson has the tools to take on a larger role and push into the top tier at the position if his workload continues to grow.

9) Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley remains inside the top 10 due to his proven ability to deliver elite fantasy production when the situation is right. After a dominant 2024 season, his 2025 output fell short of expectations.

Barkley finished 2025 with 280 carries for 1,140 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns, plus 37 receptions for 273 yards and 2 receiving scores. He totaled 232.3 PPR points and finished as the RB12 overall.

Philadelphia's offense dealt with inconsistencies in 2025, but the core talent remains strong. With Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and a talented offensive line, the Eagles are positioned to rebound.

At age 29 entering 2026, Barkley still has the physical ability to produce at a high level. If the offense improves, he has a path back toward top-eight production in PPR formats.

10) Ashton Jeanty

Ashton Jeanty rounds out the top 10 after an encouraging rookie season in Las Vegas. Despite playing behind an inconsistent offensive line, he showed the ability to handle volume and contribute as a receiver.

Jeanty carried the ball 266 times for 975 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns in 2025, while adding 55 receptions for 346 yards and 5 receiving scores. He finished with 245.1 PPR points and ranked just outside the top 10.

The Raiders are expected to add a franchise quarterback in the 2026 draft, which should raise the ceiling of the entire offense. Improved quarterback play and offensive structure would directly benefit Jeanty.

At 22 years old entering 2026, Jeanty has three-down ability and significant growth potential. In PPR formats, he profiles as a strong breakout candidate.
